Week 12 Happy Holidays!

As the holiday season approaches, families create cards to wish their friends and loved ones good tidings. Please write a holiday letter about your family that could possibly be included with this mailing. Tell us some of the highlights of your family’s year. Be sure to mention something specific about each family member–including your pets! Go ahead and brag!

Please write this in correct letter format with a greeting and closing. Post your letter either on my blog or your own edublog. If you would prefer more privacy, you may choose to email your letter to me at kripowell@edina.k12.mn.us

Please…..
—-Write your letter first in MSWord (or another word processing program).
—-Reread your writing before publishing and revise it to be clear and descriptive.
—-Edit your work - capital letters, punctuation, spelling
—-Add your first name and code to your writing (eg. Julie Sw27).
—-Lastly, copy your letter and paste it in the comment box on my blog, in a posting on your own edublog, or in an email to me, Mme Powell.

Dear friends and family,

I hope that you are having a good winter. My family and I have been up to a lot of things. My mom, Carey, won her first tennis match! My dad, Steve, is a hockey coach and my two sisters have him for their coach. Ella, my sister, has been very funny lately, we dressed her up as a Christmas tree. Ava has been doing ballet. I have been playing in the snow and love it! It’s been a great year!

Did you have a good year? Well I did. I got two cats, Tigger and Dakota. They get in trouble a lot. In Tiggers case he goes on the kitchen table and Dakota acts like a dog because she drinks out of the toilet sometimes. I sometimes think she is a Dog.
Last year we went to Arizona. It was the best spring break I lived through. But this year for Christmas I will be going to Texas.

Dear friends and family,

My summer has gone terrific. First I went to my cabin. It was a bomb. We went tubing my dad loves doing donuts. In August I went to my other cabin and there is a water trampoline and I sometimes do flips off the trampoline. In the winter I do Hockey tournaments and we win almost all the time. I have alot of fun. My dad does Hockey tournaments too. My mom used to do figure skating. I got a new hamster this year. His name is Squirt. In the spring my hamster just sleeps.

Happy Holidays!!! From Garrett SW#23

Happy holidays to all! This is the time of year when things get busy around here.

I am in 4th grade at Normandale Elementary. I just started squirt hockey; it’s going great! Piano is going well, I’m learning to play “Jingle-Bell Rock” = "jin-gle bell jin-gle bell jin-gle bell rock!" And, I’m still a #1 Golden Gopher fan.

Well, my mom is doing great! She and her boss have agreed that she will work less hours. She volunteered to be our treasurer for hockey!

My dad has been working at Stanley Consulting for the past year. Also, he is my hockey team’s manager and soccer manager!

My grandfather is having a hard time because he just got a heart pacemaker. But, he is coming for Christmas – we are hoping.

We love hearing from you - so call, write, and visit- whatever! Just let us hear from you!

It was a busy time for our family last year. My brother is in First grade and he is playing basketball. In the summer he played soccer. My sister is in Third grade. She is on a swim team and in Gator 3. She won the C finals 50 backstroke and freestyle races. My dog Ginger had lessons how to sit and lay. I went to Wisconsin and went fishing and I caught so many fish, like 55, it was a blast (ok that was a fish story)! My mom and dad work alot and there after me to get my homework done. We had the best year ever!!!

On my mom's side of the family, my cousins are each about 1 year in age apart. In 2001, my cousin Elisabeth was 1, Ryan was 2, Aaron was 3, I was 4, and Ally was 5. Then my cousin Annika was born in 2003, and she stopped the streak. Something interesting about my uncle Peter is that he helped invent Halo, a video game. My uncle Mike plays the trumpet. My mom teaches at Concord. Every Christmas my grandma and grandpa sing peter pipper or the Christmas cookies song very fast. I just love my family. Sarah sw2.

My family’s year has been good. I am looking forward to going snowboarding in Park City, Utah with my Dad this week for my 10th birthday (and missing school). My brother and sister can be sort of annoying. My mom and dad are very nice. My dog is very funny and always friendly. Today my dog took my brothers sandwich off the kitchen counter and cut his tongue on the broken plate. I hope everyone has a Happy New Year.

I just got back from playing hockey in Milwaukee and my brother is already bothering me. But other than that, it's going good. In Milwaukee we had 4 games. We won 3 and tied 1. We had a lot of hockey in my family this weekend. My sister made the Blake high school hockey team as an 8th grader. She had a game Saturday night. I am on a Wisconsin hockey team. My bother is on a hockey team and was in Duluth for the weekend. They aren't, that good although they're ranked number #1. Why? Got me. I think they stink. Okay. See you later aligator.

nick a bettre hockey player than johnny!

Dear family, friends and pets,

It has been a VERY busy year in my house. This summer you probably know that we had the chans to go to Italy and France. In fact we got to stay for exactly a month (30 days)!!!!!!!! Italy for 3 weeks and 2 of them in Spoleto Italy and the last one in France!!!!!!! My dad has what you could call a summer job at the Spoleto music festival, because he knew Mr. Maestro Menotti before he died. He composed the opera Amahl and the Night Visitors. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but it is a Christmas tale and is very good!!!!!! So my dad sometimes gets to go and perform in an opera. We have lots of friends in Spoleto!!! In fact I even found a girl my age, and now we are pen pals and great friends!!!!!!!! France is great to!!!!! My family REALLY no I really mean REALLY loves to travel, which I love a lot too as long as we don’t go sneaking around creepy caves!!!!!!!! Now it’s about time to move on. I am now doing basket ball, gymnastics, swimming, violin, school choral,” art of taking out the dog “and a whole lot more!!!! I love to sing, draw, dance, travel, spend time with family, read, play, play the violin, try new things, do my best, have fun, make new friend, meet new people, and to much more to put on here!!!! I don’t much like math and French grammar, but I like the rest of school!!

So have a happy holiday Cristiana SW#12. P.S My edublog still dose not work.

December 2007

Dear Friends,

We’ve had a great 2007. In March, we went to Florida to visit Gramma and Grandpa Fogg. We went to Disney World. We saw a lot of cool things and went on a lot of rides. During the summer, we went to Boston. While we were there, we saw a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park.

My dad was really excited because the Red Sox won the World Series. He has always been a Red Sox fan. My mom has been helping my Grandma Midgley who has cancer. Ruth went to 4 church camps this summer and started High School this fall. David ran cross country this fall and swam with the Edina Gators. Now, he is swimming with the High School team. Rachel started 1st grade this fall. She started the cello but doesn’t really like.

We’ve saved the best for last – ME. In July, I broke my arm. I had stop baseball, soccer and swimming. Then in the fall, I got my cast off but I still couldn’t play football. The best thing of all is that the Red Sox were in first place for the whole season and beat the Angels, the Indians and the Rockies. I am a true Red Sox fan.

I wish you well for the Holiday season. Hope you have a Happy New Year!!

Fondly,

BenJ7

Dear Mme Powell,
We just got our Christmas tree and put up the Christmas lights. Charlotte (2) loves playing with their many modes. We can even make the lights look like they're chasing each other.
My other sister Elizabeth (8)
is playing Christmas songs like CRAZY on the piano.
Mom is always busy making delicius food for our family. When she isn't I like to give her hugs.
Dad has been snow blowing and taking me sleding.
Oh me! Well I have a lot of homework. I also like to make snow forts with my neighbor Karl.
Happy holidays!
